RunAble Ambassadors
Mikey Brown
I’m Mikey, I started running on and off in 2016 when I decided to take on a trail half marathon to race money for Breast Cancer Now. Did a few ParkRun events and a 10k as well along the way until 2019 when I took on Edinburgh marathon and decided to do some kind of training as I had said for a few years ‘I wonder how far or fast I could go if I committed to some training.’ All my big events are generally done as a fundraiser for charities close to my family.
I completed the marathon in the May and in January 2020 I joined Dewsbury Road Runners. Found myself with a really good group of runners that had similar interests in running trails and off road routes as I did. Now, 2 ultras, numerous 10k road and trail races, Half Marathons, Mountain Marathons and various fell races later including the Three Peaks fell race I’m 100% hooked on running.
Favourite RunAble event has to be the Urban Night Series. Really enjoy the friendly competition and social atmosphere of running around the Brighouse/Halifax area on an orienteering score event. Finished off with a drink and chat discussing line choices. Yes some of us are that geeky!!

Rachel Williams
I’m Rachel, love being active and out in the great outdoors. Hiking is one passion; I’m want to complete the Wainwrights and bring merry legs (my daughter) on as much of the adventure with me but running seems to be getting in my way atm 🤣.
I dabbled in running, entering the odd race and OCRs, it was something I enjoyed and a challenge to switch things up. I try do one thing a year for charity, last year I decided to enter my first marathon. Love/hate to say the least but enough love to enter another one, not wanting to run alone in winter I joined my local running club, Northowram Pumas. Surrounded by inspiring people, soaking up top tips, plus the banter, my running bug is back.
My favourite Runable event (I’ve a few) but the 10-mile trail run has just claimed top spot. A novice to this type of event (road runner here) it mixed things up, the climbs were hard but the views were amazing. Plus, I met some great people on course. That’s what I love about the running community, we can be a little competitive but support each other too.
Matt Dawson
Hi I’m Matt and my running journey started in 2016 after a 20 year gap , I started back running to gain a bit of fitness and soon found myself rejoining my old club where I found the sociable side to running and the enjoyment of running with like minded people .
My running focused on road running with shorter distance races until the world changed and lockdown closed clubs. During lockdown I met with other runners as and where rules allowed and started my newest journey of trail running using everything from local footpaths and woods to the joys of running in the Peak District.
Around 2 years ago I made the club change and joined Dewsbury Road Runners where I have the opportunity to run purely trail runs with like minded runners which has increased my passion for running and lead me to compete in cross country events.
I’m a great believer in volunteering so you’ll often see me cheering on at park run but also cheering on at Runables fantastic events (I’m the one holding a bacon sandwich normally) Runable have some amazing events coving all distances and different terrains but by far my personal favourite is the Round Reservoir Race which is a multi lapped team event and has an amazing atmosphere.
Runable is a small friendly organisation striving to put on well organised events that are focused on providing great races for all levels of runners and this is why I’m proud to have been chosen to help represent them ,if you haven’t entered one of there events yet then what are you waiting for , there’s definitely something for everyone.

Gemma Brown
Hi, I’m Gemma. I started running after first lockdown as I’d put on my lockdown half stone and couldn’t dance because jiving with a partner was still banned.
I thought running would be cheap and fit around my kids easily. I was half right! Five half marathons and one marathon later, and it’s definitely my thing! I’m currently training for my second marathon (with the third and fourth already booked!). And I’m a sucker for a run that ends with cake!
You’ll never find me winning a race, as I only do them as an excuse to run with my friends and find new routes (plus I love a hoodie, but hate medals!).
I absolutely LOVED the Runable Canalside Dash series this summer. Everything about the runs was awesome - from the route, to the distances, to the fab people I met doing them. Oh, and the pint and packet of crisps at the end - heaven!
